Rethinking Housing Refurbishment aims to bring about a step change in the housing agenda by highlighting the contribution that refurbishment has to play in reducing UK carbon emissions and encouraging industry to raise standards of practice.
The Victorian Terrace
In its flagship project, the Rethinking Housing Refurbishment team is transforming a disused Victorian Stable Block at the BRE site into three energy efficient terrace homes fit for 21st century living alongside education and training workshops, and a visitor's centre.
July 2010: Work on site is now complete for Phase One of the project. External work on the whole original building has been finished , two of the three demonstration homes have been created and the presentation area is ready.

Partner projects
The team is also working with partners across the country on wide range of green refurbishment projects based in different property types.
CoRE
The Centre of Refurbishment Excellence (CoRE) is planned to be a high profile 'living refurbishment demonstrator', a national centre for the advancement of sustainable refurbishment and an ‘authoritative training facility for innovative retrofitting'
